Patriotic Wreath ...

Happy Day!

After being inspired by the mesh wreaths that popped up around Easter (thanks to Kristen's awesome tutorial), I decided to take a stab at it and create one for Memorial Day/4th of July, especially considering the strong sense of patriotism in the air these days!

I started with this (along with a work wreath and three beaded flag necklaces that aren't pictured):

And made this:

I did it a bit differently than Kristen though.  Instead of cutting the ribbon into strips and tying it in knots all the way around the wreath, I purchased a work form wreath and added all three ribbons (one color at a time) all the way around the wreath, creating both inner and outer layers.  I then threaded the beaded flag necklaces in and out of the mesh all the way around the wreath:

Love the patriotic punch of color it adds to our front door!

While we're out here, take a peek at my beautiful coleus which is growing a rapid rate in the urns ... my poor accent grass and creeping Jenny are being overtaken!

Happy *early* Memorial Day!

And, OH, by the way ... GUESS what arrived in the mail today?!  Yippee!

Thanks for stopping by ... have a great day!

  2. I am going to try and make a wreath. Yours is fabulous! I also recently got my chalk paint and can't wait to try it. Has anyone told you that you resemble Kim Raver? Of course you are both stunning!

I'm glad you like the granite! Yes, I thought it was alot like yours...I went back to look at yours and it looks almost identical. The piece I brought home did lighten up just a tad more. I cannot wait to get it installed!!

  6. Becca, just wondering what kind of work form wreath you purchased? I have seen the wire ones with the few pieces of greenery that you attach the mesh with, but have not seen any just plain wire ones anywhere unless I have overlooked them. At Christmas time I just use a regular christmas wreath and use the greenery to attach the mesh...I don't cut it. I like it better not cut! Anyway, just wondering what kind of wreath you used...

  9. I hate to be deemed "out of it" but what is a 'work wreath' ? You can tell I don't do many wreaths anymore. :-) I LOVE this wreath ~ so full and lush!! The necklaces add a bit of bling and surprise that I really like.

Chalk paint? Oh my word...now you'll have everything in the house painted or repainted. LOL Seriously, I can't wait to see what you do next.

Hope you're having a fabulous weekend!

  17. Oh Becca, I am so jealous of your front entrance! It is so beautiful. I need to pull out my patriotic decorations {quickly}. I'm not sure I know what a "work wreath" is. Dare to explain? and where I might get one so that I can totally copy you! Why try to be original when you are made perfection!!

I love the girls at the Picket Fence! Your feature was well deserved! It is always lovely over here! Christie at Three Pixie Lane in upstate SC!!

  31. Gorgeous! I love the patriotic wreaths. I ran out of time before I could make any this year. For those asking, I've seen the work forms at http://www.trendytree.com/ and http://www.mardigrasoutlet.com/ and Hobby Lobby. Hope this helps.
