What fun(!) ... blogland is rockin' and rollin' this week with the Blogger Block Party! I'm looking forward to being inspired by everyone's projects, recipes and fun party ideas! I'm joining Kristin at My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia for her Drop Cloth Party, along with Kim at Savvy Southern Style for her Porch Party. Welcome to our porch ...
It's not a very large space, but we enjoy it (admittedly, not as much as we should)! The loveseat, rockers and coffee table were a gift from my sweet parents:
And, okay, the secret is out ... I can't take full credit for my painting transformations! I have a 5 year old painting partner who likes to wear Spiderman pjs:
I did a reverse "relax" stencil on the fireplace ... choosing red to tie in with the cushions:
Here's another little sitting area, which sits outside of our kitchen:
Annnnd, I made the curtains by purchasing one 9 x 12 canvas drop cloth and cutting three 30 x 106 length panels. My sweet friend is going to sew the "rough" sides up for me. I love how they make the porch feel more like a *room*:
... thanks SO much for stopping by! I'm also joining these fun gatherings, too:It's not a very large space, but we enjoy it (admittedly, not as much as we should)! The loveseat, rockers and coffee table were a gift from my sweet parents:
I love barn stars and thought a large one would be perfect above the fireplace (which I recently painted Old White (chalk paint), followed by a bit of distressing and clear wax). I also enjoy mixing all types of elements together:

Pretty cream and apple green pillows are from Wal-Mart:
I spray painted the coffee table Rustoleum Biscuit to tie in with the fireplace:
I scored the oversized striped lumbar pillow from PB last Fall for only $14 (normally $34)!
The wire bird cage (turned candle/seashell holder) is from HomeGoods:

ReplyDeleteYour porch is just darling! You have done a wonderful job and I am very inspired by all the furniture you have transformed with chalk paint. It makes me want to start painting everything in my home. You are a wonderful decorator, and I would hire you any day!!
ReplyDeleteGreat porch space, Becca! We have a screened in gazebo that we don't use as often as we should. Love that PB pillow score - the pillow itself and the price!

ReplyDeleteBecca, this is AMAZING! This is truly what I consider an "outdoor room" because it just feels like a natural extension of your gorgeous home. You have such a way of blending elements together and transforming your existing pieces. It is all so beautiful and I wish I could come hang out there with you! :-)
ReplyDeleteVanessa

ReplyDeleteAdorable. I have a narrow room we call a sunroom but I think it used to be a porch. It has a lot of windows but is more like a house addition. Love what you did with your space and all your accessories!

Becca, I love every project you have shared with us! You are so talented and creative. I think your colors and pillows are gorgeous. I will have to check out Wal mart. You have such a great eye for decor and picking out things in stores that are so lovely at home. Thanks for sharing your talents with us. The helper is special too!

ReplyDeleteHi Becca,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by our porch. I'm here to see yours. It is gorgeous. Love, love, love the fireplace! I never thought of making outdoor curtains from dropcloths. That was very clever. Your accessories are perfect.
Hi Becca, the pic of your patio/porch doors here have inspired a question and I wanted to see if you or anyone here could give me some advice.
ReplyDeleteI want to replace my patio doors with french doors. But because my table/island is directly in front of these doors, they would have to open outward towards the backyard.
Is there a rule about which way your french doors open? Do they have to open inwards or is it ok if they open outwards? I've mostly only ever seen them open inwards so I'm probably out of luck but just thought I'd ask!
Thanks!
Katrina :)
Such a cute porch! Just have to say that I got that lumbar pillow, (A blue one also) for that same great deal. Don't You love it? We have very similar taste. I love the white chalk paint. Have never used it. Have got to give it a try sometime.
ReplyDeleteWho wouldn't love to sit a spell on your front porch! Great ideas and it looks so inviting. We are working on a fireplace on our front deck,,,thanks for some inspiration. Please stop by the country sometime...
