Okay, when I posted my great room yesterday, I was not "feeling" the mantle. I attempted to tweak it a bit, but would love to layer it more. Here's the start (feel free to enlarge by clicking on pic):
I love how Liz over at Savvy Seasons by Liz added a few birds to her mantle. That inspired me to bring a few of my birds out, too! Thanks, Liz!
This cute birdhouse sat on my buffet during the Fall ... I thought I might bring it back for now:
I snatched these birds up from Michael's last Fall when they were on clearance.
Over on the right, I brought back my winter bird plate (from Home Goods):
The florals are made up of berries, greenery and feathers:
Love the battery operated candles that I forgot to turn on:
And, of course, this silly little nut is my BEST accessory ever. We had fun today since his school was closed.
I'm joining Beth's winter mantle party at her blog, Stories of A to Z. Come on over and join the fun.
Enjoy your day,
Becca
Becca, your tweaking paid off because your mantle looks even more fabulous! I love those birds and the bird house is adorable. Where did you find it? See, now you've inspired me to take out some of my birdhouses, thank you!! *smile* I like how you stacked the candle on books to give it height…it looks wonderful! Thanks for sharing, sweet girl! Enjoy the evening! XOXO ~Liz
ReplyDeleteOh man! I didn't even get a chance to comment on how much I loved your last post before you went and changed things again! :-) I guess my mantel stalking is going to have to extend beyond Christmas because you are giving me a ton of inspiration my friend! And, I really loved seeing how you changed up your family room with the gorgeous new sofa and accessories. Warm and traditional with a twist of contemporary. That sounds like the perfect decorating cocktail! Speaking of cocktails...

ReplyDeleteGorgeous as always.... love that last photo with a splash of orange ;-) LOL
ReplyDeleteBecca, I love your 'tweaking!' Birdies are always right! I have been tweaking mine too but I'm not finished yet. Your fireplace is simply gorgeous! Thanks for sharing yours.

Well I liked it before, and I like it now. Ooooh, I can't wait to have a mantle to do, and re-do lol. I am taking notes from all of you girlies. It won't be long now.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Love the bird house...and the birds. My daughter would love them. :-) Everything looks gorgeous, as usual, including Jax. What a cutie! Oh, and I keep forgetting to mention the tall candlesticks ~ beautiful. I saw some at Pier 1 that have been calling my name.

I love your mantle. The arraignments are so pretty and the little boy takes the cake. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteBefore was great but now is AWESOME! I love the tweak, tweak! How is the weather there? We are BAD! No school again....
ReplyDeleteThat looks great! I wouldn't have thought of the birdhouse! Perfect! Yes, Jax is the best accessory!!! We have a lot of ice. How about you?
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so good Becca, you are such a inspiration! I love your gorgeous home.
ReplyDeleteAuhhh.... I LOVE the little bird touches that you added to your mantle! And my favorite accessory of yours is dressed in orange and black {{wink}}
ReplyDeleteWarm wishes,
Carrie
great job your mantel looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI had to come by and say thanks for your very nice comment on my blog... I so love your fireplace.. it is my new project this next few months to build my own surround and yours is what I'm after...I just bought the Amish insert and now to get to it..
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
Sandy
Hi Becca! Your mantle looks really pretty!! Love the little birds and the plate is beautiful! I am wanting to do something different with mine...but don't know what yet. Everytime I change it I put it right back like I had it. I really want to retire the dogs into the bookcases soon. Just looking for something interesting to replace them with. Anyway, thanks for your nice comments on my new canisters and rooster tablescape! Oh, and I really like what you did with your family room! It looks beautiful! Sometimes I want to tone down my red too. I'll have to keep the sofas for a year or two longer though. I say they are red...but they are really more of a coral/rust color in real life. (hard to tell in pics) If they were any brighter, I'm sure I would be very sick of them by now.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day today! Kristen
Such a cute little guy Becca. I may have to bend your ear a bit in the future on how to raise a little boy! I'm only used to girls over here. I love your mantle. If I lived close by you might have to hide that birdie plate from me! You and Liz have similar tastes. I love it!

The mantle is divine Becca! And naturally, every piece you chose beautifully compliments the next. You have done an impeccable job transforming every room. They were wonderful and soothing before, but you took them up a notch with just a few touches....you have quite the eye! What are your go-to magazines for inspiration? I suscribe to Tradition Home, Better Homes and Garden, and House Beautiful but I find myself less than inspired and hardly ever rip out any pages from them. I've had a few great issues - and BHG is great for recipes, organizing tips, etc. - maybe I need to look into other magazines?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely LOVE it! Your mantel looks great...I HEART the bird touches! Im Craaazy about birds, birdhouses, birdnests! Looks FAB!
ReplyDeleteCant wait to see what you do next!

Becca, everything looks great. I love those candlesticks too!
ReplyDeleteI really like your mantle. I love the birds you have collected. Isn't it funny that a mantle can cause problems? I'm always so unhappy with mine. I'm always looking for something new to do to it.
ReplyDeleteGlad to have found you.
Blessings,
Valerie
Wow! Becca this looks really good. It is all elegant and I love the balance. The red bird plate is fabulous. I'm going to keep my eye out for something like that.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to move to get a new overall fireplace design. I never chose ours in the first place. (Hubs) I have never liked the heavy look and feel of the stones but I thought maybe it would grow on me. It never has but what a pain it would have been to change it. Yikes! Oh well we live and we learn.
Happy week! ~Melissa :)
Becca,
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks lovely. I had a few of those little people running around my house this week too. They ate me out of house and home! Thank goodness they got out of the house today and went back to school. (I can say that now cause two of them are teens!)
Sherry
It looks gorgeous Becca...You son is a trip...I laughed, I get those little boys! Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh wow - your mantle looks amazing! I just don't have a talent for decorating.
ReplyDeleteOh, I just love your mantle. And the birds you got on clearance sale are sooo cute!
ReplyDeleteHi Becca! Oh, your mantle looks so lovely! I love your floral and that little decoration at the bottom is just adorable!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I would say YOU Nailed it! Your mantle is picture perfect. Love all your little touches (great birds!) AND I LOVE your arrangements. That is my field so I am always focusing in on arrangements people put together. Great job!
ReplyDeleteDonna
I love the new touches with the birds! Liz is awesome and so sweet!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your visit!
