Here a Tweak, There a Tweak ...

Many of you are familiar with the transformation of our fireplace/surround that took place a couple of years ago.  It went from this:

to THIS:

Well, a few days ago, I decided to add a couple of coats of Old White chalk paint to it for a subtle change:

I also lightly distressed it:

And then added a few swipes of Gold Leaf Rub 'n Buff to the center scrollie:

Annnnnnd, I decided to paint the slate surround a soft caramel:

Just a little fun tweaking!

While we're here, I have to give a little shout out to the cute PB pillow I added to the parsons chair:

Off in the background, you might notice that I tweaked another piece, as well:

This was once the bird piece that I painted AS Chateaux Grey:

I thought it was missing "something," so I taped a stencil I had to the center, painted it Old White and then added Gold Leaf Rub 'n Buff:

There, that's better:

Your turn to "tweak" something!

Oh, and just lookie what I found today ... isn't it bee-you-teee-fulllll ?!  Fall is about to explode in blogland:

  21. "tweak" away, girl. You do a great job at changing things up to look even more fabulous than it already was! Pretty silver pumpkin, too.

  22. Well, I like your "tweak here and there". As a matter of fact, I think you should "tweak out" more often. LOL!!! Just messing with you!!! I love it!! I really want to do something to my fireplace, but my husband says NOT to. It is about the only thing I have left alone in our house. So, that's probably a sign it's not far off!! I have two of those MG pumpkins and also the gourd. I LOVE them!!! They are super gorgeous. I can't wait to see what you do with them! Hurry up with the fall pictures!! Liz and I both already look crazy, so jump on in!!!

  23. Just when I think you can't make something look any better you just go and take it all up a notch...or 2...or 3!! I love how the mantel looks and painting the surround totally softened it. The stencil on the dresser was the perfect finishing touch and everything looks positively gorgeous my dear! :-)

  29. Hey girlie, so sorry it's taken my this long to hop over here to see you lastest and greatest. Girl you are unstoppable with all these great paint projects. I had to do a triple take on the caramel surround. So subtle but makes a great statement.... and it's going to look fabulous when you finish with your fall decor (you haven't finished yet, have you?)

OMG, you got a mercury pumpkin!!! I am so jealous. You know I am all about the PB lately. I wished my PB outlet had them :(

  33. Those were some mighty fine tweaks, lady! You did good!

We are having "extreme" heat warnings here, so I've gone "full-tilt" into fall decorating. Well, that would be in the spaces I have actually finished unpacking....lol! It's truly my favorite time of year!
