Well, considering I've had my Fall decor up since the latter part of August, I've decided it's time to start adding Christmas! I spent most of yesterday taking all of the leaves and pumpkins down (and confusing my 4 year old son who asked why I'm putting Christmas up when it's not even Thanskgiving yet ... he'll learn, right? lol)!
In the meantime, Beth over at her fabulous blog, The Stories of A to Z, is having a last year's Christmas Mantel linky party to get everyone in the mood for Christmas decor. So, I thought I'd join the fun and share just a couple of pics of my mantel back then, which was dressed with a big ol' garland ... glittery nutcrackers and festive finials.
A closer look (my apologies for the poor photo quality):
I love the nutcrackers ... and will probably be placing them on my mantle again this year. However, I'd love to switch it up a bit, so we'll see.
And, since there is no way I will be *over*decking the halls like I did last year (when our home was on the local Christmas Tour of Homes Parade), I thought I'd share a link to my home from last year. Just click here: Part 1 of my holiday home tour from last year if you feel like seeing Christmas on overload!
Hi Becca,
ReplyDeleteAll year round I like a fairly pared-back look but then Christmas comes and something gets into me. I like Christmas overload. I can't help myself!!
I'm like a magpie!! Glitter and sparkles and bright colours!!
I think your mantlepiece is absolutely stunning.
I'm really enjoying following your blog. Each post seems even better thn the last!

I'm trying to become a new follower but it says "request too large." Strange, huh? I'll try from my home computer later (I'm at my parents' house) and see if it works. Just loving your blog!
ReplyDeleteHi Becca! What an absolutely gorgeous mantel! Love it! I'm starting to think about Christmas, too. Crazy, huh? It's not even Thanksgiving yet!Happy weekend!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteBecca, that is gorgeous. I am not going to add Christmas this early because I will get tired of it before Christmas and want to take it down.
ReplyDeleteYour mantel decor is stunning. Love the garland and all the nutcrackers are just perfect. The two big ones on the hearth are stunning. Beautifully done. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteOH I just love it! I went back and took the whole tour, well, part 1 tour anyway. LOL! If I had the money I would go waaayy overboard! LOL! I have pared back over the years but I just love seeing all bells and whistles of the holidays. I am in love with those elves decorating your den tree and your larger Santas everywhere. I would have a very hard time not putting it all out again if I had it though. Thanks so much for resharing this I am sure I will be checking it often for great decorating ideas!
ReplyDeleteOh, my... that's it! Love the nutcrakers and the lighted garland. What a grand and beautiful fireplace! I'll have to click the link to see more. How fun to have your home on the Christmas Tour! I bet there are a few ooohhs and aaaahhs :)
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous Becca!! Wow! Can't wait to see more this year!! I am sooo ready for the holiday decorating too! :)
ReplyDeleteYour mantel was just gorgeous. I have a problem paring mine down because it is such a focal point in my living room. I will start to decorate after Christmas. We get a live tree so I can't do anything too early or the tree will be dead on Christmas! lol!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see more, Becca!
XO,
Jane

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Girl! Ummm...I seriously don't even have words! You could totally do that professionally, like maybe at my house?? :-) I must confess that on the one hand it totally puts my mantel to SHAME but on the other hand fills me with so many inspiration and ideas. You truly have a gift and I feel like I am looking at something out of Traditional Home with all of the rich colors and textures. So, how far have you gotten in your decorating for this year??
