Happy *official* Fall Y'all! Deep rich colors are popping up alllll over blogland now, and I.love.it. Too bad it's still hot out!
Okay, after our mantel from last year was selected to be featured on Better Homes and Gardens website (BHG.com) as part of this year's Fall inspirational slideshow, admittedly, I found myself thinking "no WAY" will my creative juices be flowing this year. So, after tweaking ... and tweaking ... and tweaking, I gave up! Alas, here is our "I give up" Fall mantel:
I have to give the initital *shout out* to the bee-you-tee-ful iron piece that stands center stage on the mantel ... what can I say(?), Home Goods rocks!
I added lit branches to this simple arrangement in a cream pitcher (which I also wrapped twine) ... LOVE how they glow at night. And, I found this handsome birdie at Hobby Lobby ... I was instantly attracted to his beautiful warm colors:
This "Welcome Harvest" sign was also purchased at HL ... and, the garland below is much like last year's, except I removed the lights and added larger pumpkins:
This cloche, containing lots of smaller pumpkins/leaves, is perched on old books, which I turned so that the pages are facing out:
I hot glued an apothcary jar to this tall candlestick ... threw in some corn, a battery operated monogrammed candle and large bow (with Fall sprig) and call it *a day:*
Down below, our chair now has a coral pillow and simple cream pillow, which I added a burlap bow:
And, woohoo, I discovered this vintage tool box planter hiding at Tuesday Morning (my apologies to whomever hid it to come back and purchase later ... you see, I'm one of those sneaky "hide while I think about it" shoppers, too ... do NOT hide items like this ... I will find it.) LOL !!
Annnnnd, lastly, a simple white pumpkin topiary sits atop a grapevine wreath, raffia and leaves:
Oh ... and, I did bring back the wooden bead garland that I made last year:
I can't wait to see everyone's mantels! I'm linking up with:

ReplyDeleteAHHH!!! SO GORGEOUS Becca! I absolutely love every single detail and just realized that I need to do something down around my hearth like you have done to give it that extra "umph". I think we posted our mantels at the same time today! You did an amazing job on yours my friend and I am so thrilled for you about the feature at BHG.com. You knocked this year's way out of the park too and it doesn't remotely look like you "gave up"! :-)
ReplyDeleteVanessa
Becca, you need to go over and look at my white pumpkin topiaries I posted last night...I swear we think alike!!! You are going to crack up. I even put them on top of a grapevine wreath. WEIRD!!!!! I love, love, love this mantle. I swear I like it better than the one last year!!! I think it is totally fabulous!! I'm not happy with my mantle from this year, but it will do. Yours is GREAT!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I think we were leaving comments on each other's posts at the same time! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove, V
Looks great, Becca. I didn't even try to go over the top like I did last year.
ReplyDeleteBecca, your mantel is GORGEOUS! Girl, you come up with the most beautiful vignettes ever! YOU AND KIM ARE MY FAVE!!! Both of you ladies come up with the most original, eye-catching, oh-so-good for my eyes vignettes!
ReplyDeleteIt must have been doubly hard to try and come up with a mantel to top that fab one last year that made it to BH&G but I believe you've done it! GORGEOUS! But I think the part I like best is that it isn't just the mantel, it is the total look of the whole mantel/fireplace/hearth area that is so pleasing to the eye. You've coordinated it all perfectly! I especially like the white pumpkins in the urn!
ReplyDeleteDD
Becca, your "I Give Up" mantel is better than most people's very best efforts! Your mantelscape is just beautiful--all those layered elements look lovely together, and I especially love the iron piece you use to anchor it all. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteBecca, your fall mantel is bee u tee ful! So many gorgeous details. Love the lighted branches, the iron grate, and the toolbox planter. That was a sweet find!
ReplyDeleteBecca, Your mantel is gorgeous! Love the iron piece and the bird is perfect for Fall decorating. The pumpkin topiary is fabulous. Nothing in your beautiful home looks like you gave up and I expect BHG will be contacting you again wanting to feature this mantel.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
Looks every bit as gorgeous as last years. Love the hide and find box too:)
ReplyDeleteYou must have "ESPN" (LOL!) b/c hubby finally got my stuff out of the attic this afternoon and I've been fluffying my stuff! I always keep in mind your gorgeous mantle from last year so I can copy cat it somewhat (okay, a lot!)...but I see the one from this year has some great ideas to copy too! As always, you've done a great job Becca.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Judy
