Since I shared our Fall mantel the other week, it occurred to me that I haven't shown the rest of the great room in quite awhile! Of course, things have changed a bit in here (I know you're shocked) ... feel free to take a peek around.
Here's the *new* look. When we added crown molding throughout our home, we REALLY wanted to add it in this room, but, because of the vaulted ceiling, it just wouldn't look right (so they said). Bummer:
In my lighten and brighten *lollapalooza* that has been taking place in our home this year, I replaced our striped accent chairs with two slipcovered wing chairs that were in another room:
Pillows on sale from Pottery Barn add a splash of Fall colors ... the French pillow is from TJ Maxx:
I placed my old faux fur rug from IKEA on the ottoman for added texture and coziness. Oh, and I totally copied my buddy, Carrie, at Dittle Dattle and raced to Big Lots to buy two of these rusty/orange pillows after she featured them in her fabulous Fall great room. Thanks, Carrie:
Leftover fabric that has been sitting in my closet forever is now scrunched up and serving as a base for my coffee table vignette (created with things I already had ... I LOVE free decorating):
Of course, I had to mix in a few feathers:
Here's the Fall mantel a-GAIN (that I recently added one coat of Annie Sloane's Old White chalk paint and distressed a bit):
Another painted piece (AS Old White/Chateaux Grey) has a touch of Fall on top:
A-NOTHER victim of my paint brush ... fun seeing the reflection of the mantel in the mirror:
I picked up these fun envelope prints from Marshalls this summer:
Love the vibrant pumpkin from Pier One (so much so that bought three of them on sale), which is paired with a lamp I recently scored at a consignment shop ... only $19! I saw a lamp very similar to this one at Home Goods for $49! And, hey, who says you can't use your remote as part of your vignette! LOL.
On each side of our French door, I replaced our humongo prints with smaller ones ... I also scored these mirrored tables this past summer at Tuesday Morning. And, for an inexpensive touch of Fall, I added burlap bows to the lampshades:
View from the breakfast area ... it's funny how the afternoon light makes the paint color (Sherwin Williams Restrained Gold) looks so much darker and gold than it truly is ... I plan on continuing the Manchester Tan in this area, as well ... SOMEday:
And, since it's Fall, you *know* what that means in this house ... time for the Fall "Family" tree, which I'll share next time:
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!

ReplyDeleteOh Becca, your home is so beautiful and all of your fall touches are fabulous. I love everything. I drooled over every picture. We just got home last night and I wanted to thank you for being such a fabulous guest host while we were gone. You are such a gracious and lovely person, thanks tons. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteLooking good, Becca. Thanks for sharing and I still love that chateau gray chest.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh!!! I had those postcard prints in my cart at TJ Maxx and then put them back because I wasn't sure where to hang them in my house! I'm kicking myself now after seeing them on your wall!:-) They look so pretty as does everything else about this room. It all looks so gorgeous my friend!
ReplyDeleteVanessa
I love the changes! That room is so cozy, and your eye for detail is right on. About crown moulding~ we have vaulted ceilings throughout our home and we backed off with moulding because of that fact. One of my neighbors had hers done, and all I can say is it looks amazing. You would think it would look weird, but it doesn't. I am bummed that we didn't do it. I've had many "men" tell me things like "that wont work or look good", but they just can't always visualize the end result. I remember one telling me hanging my curtain rods high above my windows would look awful. With 5 or 6 ft of space above. Those rods needed some height. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding!! Love it all ~ and the feathers are so fun. Love me some feathers and bling ~ :-) Hey, I really need you to come visit and decorate...I'll provide the wine!
ReplyDeleteI took down all my fall & Halloween decor yesterday evening...except for 2 pumpkins. I'm not crazy...I promise! I think I've been clearing out so much and tossing/donating that it was making me feel claustrophobic. I have a small space so I think that makes a difference. I will enjoy yours from afar!
Hope you're having a fab weekend ~ why don't you put that paint brush down for a bit? LOL

P.S. LOVE the Chateau grey and white paint job!

ReplyDeleteP.S. Sorry about the dupe posts ~ problems with Blogger this morning, even using Google Chrome.
ReplyDeleteWhat I wanted to say is, forget what "they" said (prolly a man) about the crown moulding in a vaulted area. I've seen it done and it's gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteReally lovely, Becca! You got some great deals in there! I was thinking along the lines of Restrained Gold {or similar in BM} for the sunroom. I've tried to live with the existing green, but it's just not working for me. It looks great on your walls; would you recommend it?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and cozy space! Love the drapes and the way you have them hung! :)

It looks so pretty, Becca. Although my home is on kind of a "color high," I love the look & appreciate the beauty of the all the whites & creams. I had to laugh when I saw your feathers. Love that added element, but every time I bring some into the house, my cat goes nuts! Yeah, Abby the mighty hunter who's aftraid of her own shadow. It is a funny thing to watch!

Everything is gorgeous as usual!
Hey Becca, beautiful as always, love all of your autumn touches. Crown molding on vaulted ceiling is a tough one. We haven't done ours yet but my neighbor had her entire house done and its just gorgeous. Was definitely the work. Where did you get your slip cover for the wing chair. I'm looking for one and can't find it.

ReplyDeleteI love it! I think I have the same disorder...just when I think I have it how I want, I feel the need to change it again! Love your blog & thank you for following mine!!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the tour of your family room. I love all the lighter color touches you've added. The mirrored chest is beautiful! I'd like to have one of those. (Although, I have no idea where I'd put it. Ha!). I really like your new lamp from the consignment store too. That's a great buy! Your mantel is gorgeous as well. All that trim around it just sets it off so nicely. You really have the knack for decorating.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Just a thought- we had a vaulted ceiling in our old house, and we thought about adding crown moulding just on the walls that ran the length of the room with end caps on either end. It was something that we had seen in a mag and really liked- but we ended up selling before we got to that project !
ReplyDeleteBecca, your style speaks to me!! I love it.
ReplyDeleteThank You so much for linking to the party (http://liventhingsup.blogspot.com/2011/10/itz-festival-time-2011.html) ... Hope to see you in with more and more entries... The party is open upto 5th Jan 2012...so that you can link in your christmas posts too... ;-) ;-)
