Some of you may remember when I redecorated a few rooms at my parents' house this past summer, to include their sunroom. In this space, I replaced a wicker loveseat, two chairs (all with red cushions) and *yellow-y* walls with a relaxing 4 chair configuration dressed in blues and creams, with a few pops of coral and a big ol' boat that appears to be floating on the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, which is right in their backyard. Once I was done, my parents named their "new" room "The Sanctuary."
Ever since then, I've wanted to create a little "Sanctuary" in our sitting room; however, it's not as big as my parents room, NOR does it overlook the ocean (bummer)! Still, I'm determined ...
Here's what it looked like this time, last month:
And, here's what it looks like now:
Like my parents' "Sanctuary," I really want to have 4 white accent chairs in this space (possibly EKTORP Jennylund chairs from IKEA) and position them around this perfectly-sized round ottoman I recently snagged at Home Goods:
And, while I won't be painting our walls Wythe Blue like I chose for my parents' sunroom, I've added pops of blue back in ... like with this fun, new, geometric fabric,
Also, I'll re-introduce pops of coral once Spring draws near ... for now, I've kept a bit of red for Valentine's Day:
Bessie (the cowhide that *was* in our breakfast area) is now enjoying this space that is filled with lots of white, to include a sofa table that was oak stained a couple of weeks ago, but is now Annie Sloane's "Pure White,"
Here's hoping that I can find the perfect chairs to fill this space, without overwhelming it. Until then, I suppose I'll just enjoy our "Wanna Be Sanctuary." (lol)
As always, thanks for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteOh, my! Your sanctuary is wonderful. I would love to just sit and read or blog in that space.
ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful job on your parents' place also.
Looks like a sanctuary to me already Becca. Luv the soothing combination of the white with pops of blue. Agreed... had to have the shells :-)
ReplyDeleteLuvly... here's hoping you find the perfect chairs. We are still looking . The thing is , we cannot agree on it :-/

You always work your magic and have this room looking especially lovely Becca.
ReplyDeleteLooks great, Becca. Just close your eyes and dream you are at the ocean.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Becca. I always enjoy looking at your home! Have fun looking for chairs.
ReplyDeleteYou are a woman with determination, so I'm sure you will pull it off! It looks quite relaxing already.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful room! Would you mind sharing the blue color you used on the dresser in your room? Just looking at curtains close to yours to brighten up my living room. Have a beautiful week!
ReplyDeleteIt really does look like a sanctuary, Becca. It is just lovely- nice job-xo Diana
ReplyDeletedo you have a new blog look? i love it! and while your parents sanctuary is "heavenly" yours is pretty darn great too! and you have some mad photography skills...love that darling framed photo of your son.
ReplyDeletei'm trying to learn how to take better photos but all that mumbo jumbo confuses me...i need to take a hands on class...what are you doing to learn how to make the most of your pictures?
wasn't that cartoon on my FB page a hoot? my best friend (also named Judy) says stuff like that all the time!!!
I wish I had a sanctuary with that view, too! My favorite thing in the room is that frame w/ a picture of your little boy, but that garden stool is a close second. I almost bought a blue chest like that, but the one that was the color of yours got sold and I didn't like the bluer ones. Glad you found one with the 'good blue'.
ReplyDeleteLooks sooooo nice! Sit in there with an umbrella drink, close your eyes and listen to one of the CD's with ocean sounds. :)
ReplyDeleteDo you make your curtain panels? I loved the others and these are so pretty too!

Absolutely gorgeous Becca! Your sanctuary is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the gorgeous silver tray and the pop that the red flowers brings to the room. Now I'm wondering what rug is under your breakfast table... ;)
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Oh, I remember drooling over the fabulous place that you created for your parents. The sanctuary that you're creating in your home is already drool worthy and will be perfect with the addition of the chairs that you want!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful, Becca! I think you really have created a sanctuary of your own. Love the new drapes!
ReplyDeleteSuccess! What a relaxing place to unwind - all that's missing is a big glass of vino!
ReplyDeleteI'll be sharing this on my FB page later today!

It looks like a great room to sit in and relax, Becca. I love the blue color on that chest. I think that's one of the best things about a neutral room ~ that you can bring in color in some little areas and make the room feel totally different.
ReplyDeleteYour parents room is stunning and you have reall captured the same feeling in yours. Beautiful. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love it. It looks so peaceful and relaxing.
ReplyDeleteLove your room Becca! Love colours and your style!!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend sweets!!

Becca, you have impeccable taste. Everything you do is just amazing. Your parents' sitting room is so serene, as is your own. It was beautiful dressed up for Christmas, and it's even more beautiful as it is now. I love the fabric on the curtains you used. Do you mind sharing where you bought it? Visiting from Wow us Wednesdays. Have a wonderful weekend!

Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteYour wanna be is looking very sanctuary to me. Love the pops of blue with the whites.
ReplyDeleteWell it definitely looks like a sanctuary to me. Love the touches of blue in the room!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful!!! I am all over those curtains! Your parents room is absolutely one of my favorites. I have a large sitting room that I want to do the chairs in, but it is almost too big with super high ceilings! Don't you want to come to Minnesota and help me? Everyone is super excited that it is going to be 30 this weekend! :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing, a true sanctuary! I love your blue chest, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt's all so nicely put together...first time here - so glad!
ReplyDeletexo + blessings,

ReplyDeleteWhat a great room! So peaceful. I'm a new follower ;)
ReplyDeleteHey Becca...a little late to comment!...It sure looks like a gorgeous sanctuary to me already!....I think when people see that room they would just say, "ahhh" such a peaceful place to be!...You don't need a ocean view...just put a sound machine of waves breaking and being in that beautiful room, you would think that you are definitely at a beautiful resort on the beach.
ReplyDeleteCan you share where you got the beautiful blue chest?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
