Have you ever been sitting at your dining room table when, all of a sudden, you look over at your front door and decide that it needs to be painted right then and there?
If so, that sounds like my house yesterday!
I've walked by ... opened ... cleaned, this same front door for almost 7 years. *Never* have I thought about painting it anything other than white. But, for some strange reason ... that changed a few days ago. This is what our door looked like at 10:00 a.m. yesterday morning (sorry for the poor picture quality ... I could not seem to get ride of the shadows around the windows),
And, THIS is what it looked like at 10:20 a.m.! LOL. I just happened to have a can of black paint on hand ... and, well, our door got a new look!
I love the difference! And, now, it matches the outside of the door, as well!

I love impromptu projects like that, don't you?
Speaking of projects ... here's something else I'm working on, which includes this beautiful fabric, which I hope will unite our dining and sitting rooms!
I'll share the finished results soon!
Thanks for stopping by ... Happy Week!
Hehe Becca. I do the same thing. Love your front door painted black!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great idea and it turned out beautiful! It really makes a statement now.

i'm actually looking at my front door now and have been "pondering" painting it for weeks...so you might have given me the inspiration i need!
ReplyDeleteit looks so good becca...but i doubt i can do mine in 20 minutes (LOL!)
smooches!
Love how it turned out. It definitely *POPS* now!
ReplyDeleteI love the new paint job. It just makes something as insignificant as a door stand out, doesn't it. I painted mine last summer and I still love it. I love the new fabric too. I was looking at that same fabric for some drapes but it's a bit pricey for such a large job. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
ReplyDeleteLooks real good Becca! The black really makes those pretty glass panes stand out!
ReplyDelete20 minutes!!! You are good... I have been looking at mine for quite sometime now with paint in mind. This may be the spark I needed.
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful. Luv the black.
Hugs, Gee
I love how you happened to have a can of black paint sitting around! The door looks spectacular! I have thought about doing mine since it is also black on the outside. Great job!

ReplyDeleteYour door looks amazing. I totally love it. Wow. Great fabric too. Can't wait to see it in place. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about painting my inside door as well...I have a lot of white (in fact, I think we may be twins separated at birth...I see many of the same things in your house as in mine...a little weird, we shop at the same places, must be!) anyway, I wasnt sure how it would look...thanks for doing it first and letting me know that it will be awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Silly question, but did you prime it first? Or just slap the paint right on? I'm thinking of painting some of my doors...wondering if it is absolutely neccessary to prime...I usually do...byut just wonder what your plan of attack was! Thanks!

ReplyDeleteBecca, I have a can of black satin paint that I'm dying to put on our back door that leads to the garage. My front door (outside) needs paint too, thinking of painting it black also. You definitely inspired me today. Your door looks beautiful! I normally (scary) start all my projects on a whim... my poor family.
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful. What type of paint did you use?

ReplyDeleteBecca, yes, yes, yes to impromptu projects. LOL I do the same thing. I am sure we have some kind of an illness. :) At least that is what my husband says.LOL Your door looks gorgeous. What a difference!Very elegant! By the way, the fabric is gorgeous. Can't wait to see what you are up to. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed at a what a difference doing something so simple as painting a door can make. It looks wonderful, Becca! You're so smart, unlike me who gets and idea and then thinks I'll do it later and then later never happens. Can't wait to see what you're doing with that fabric!
ReplyDeleteMy front doors are black on the outside and white on the inside. You have just inspired me to do just what you did!! Looks great! and I love the (were they...) ferns flanking the front door.

ReplyDeleteI do that too! Your front door looks gorgeous in black, it really stands out.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I did this to our front door about 10 years ago. It feels like you have a new piece of furniture, doesn't it? Hides a multitude of sins on an 86-year-old door, too :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, Becca!

Love this Becca, wow! I am was thinking of doinf the same for my door, you have re-inspired me. Have a great day, Jen
ReplyDeleteOhmigosh! I'm cracking up because I just did the SAME exact thing last week! I was adding trim around my windows in my dining room, and while painting the trim, I looked over at my front door. I decided right then to paint it black! I figured I was already messy from painting baseboards, and trim, I might as well keep on going! I love it! It just adds a richness and sophistication to an otherwise blah entryway.
