Our Winter Great Room

Happy Friday!

Is it really already mid-January?  It seems like just *yesterday,* we were all sharing our holiday homes!

Normally, I would transition right into Valentine's Day after taking down our Christmas decorations, but, this year, I thought I'd give the red a break for a bit and keep a few winter touches around our house.

I decided to add in a bit of gray, with the help of these pretty solid and striped pillows from IKEA:

I then shopped the house and brought in chunky mercury candlesticks (from the dining room) and added them to our sofa table.  I left our wintery arrangement that was here at Christmas, but, I removed the red berry branches to give it a cleaner look:

Of course, blankets are a "must" when it comes to winter decor, which is why I had to scoop up this blanket from IKEA ... love the colors and it helps our chair feel "cozy ready!"

I've really enjoyed intruding more gray around here ... and, I even carried it over to our buffet.  Although, I'm not done with it yet ... gotta add just "one" more coat of paint, and then she'll be ready for her close up:

Now, you *knoooow* that I had to try my hand at a simple Winter mantel.

And, when I saw this free printable from my sweet friend Barb on her fabulous blog, The Everyday Home, I knew I had to print it off and add it to our mantel, smack dab in the middle!  Thanks again, Barb!

"Pencil-y" Christmas trees (that were on our foyer table during the holidays) and silver candlesticks help to finish off our simple Winter mantel.

While I miss the red and vibrant holiday colors around our house, we're enjoying the soft and soothing "wintery" colors in here for now ...

And, of course, I had to add a bit of Winter in the kitchen, too.  Soon, these sweet, faux treats will be replaced with Valentine goodies!

Stop back by for a few splashes of "LOVE" soon!

Thanks for visiting,

That really is a "great" room, Becca! : ) I love how you've decorated it in general and your Winter touches make this an inviting room. Love that throw.

I love your winter decorating. I posted a post on my blog, asking if it is ok to use Mercury glass after Christmas. I decided to leave mine on my mantle. I just realized I was not following you. I am now your newest follower.

Your great room is just as pretty in the more subdued decor as it was with all the Christmas glitz -- it's such a beautiful room, Becca. It really does feel very good to make things more uncomplicated for awhile.

What a beautiful room, Becca! I love the gray pillows and the texture of the rug and throws are fabulous! The mantel is great with the pencil trees and chalkboard printable! You have created a warm cozy room that says, "come and stay a while"!

All of your blankets/throws make for a cozy room even when the colour scheme is "cooler". Love what you did with your mantel - I like seeing some greenery left up after Christmas and your little trees are perfect with the snowflakes.

It's beautiful and soft. Love the winter theme idea. I have not decorated our new mantel yet. I need to work on that!

I just bought a new garden stool in white, perfect for the living room next to the sofa. Love it!

Oh darn, so wish we had an IKEA close, would have to go to Denver or Salt Lake to find one. Guess I'll have to be satisfied with online. I see so much I want when I go on their site I tapered off for while.
Your "Great room" is so wonderful, warm, welcoming, cozy. Everything you've done is really lovely and I have to get throw like yours. Our living room is painted a very light gray with some aqua, white and little bit of coral in it. The throw would be so pretty in it. Your buffalo check curtains are so pretty, I'd love to find some buffalo check fabric to make some for our l/r.
IT's so great you left some seasonal decos up on your mantel and other spots. We live in western CO so usually I leave little bit of winter up til end of Feb.
I found you thru A pocketful of blue, you were featured on her side bar. I enjoy so much "meeting' new people on blogs, it's been so nice to find people that like what I do. Even most of my life long friends aren't interested in decorating and making crafts or sewing. Helps keep my brain in gear and engaged in something besides bugging hubs (we're together 24/7) and watching tv, lol. I love him dearly, 46 yrs., but sometimes I need some alone time.
Hope you have wonderful week
