The Christmas Aftermath ...

Greetings, friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

Now that Santa has come and gone, have you taken your Christmas down yet?

We have ... and, I must say that I miss the lights already ... like these in our foyer that I forgot to share with you.

And, while the lights on the inside are gone, we're still lighting up the yard until tomorrow ... anyone else get sucked in by the "star shower" laser lights this year?  We did ... a perfect alternative for folks like my husband and me who can't manage to get on a ladder to hang lights on the top of our house.

As much as I miss the ambiance and warmth of Christmas goodies, I love having a clean, blank slate now ... like here in our great room, where I can add a bit of a "Winter-y" look.  Do you decorate for Winter?

But, before I "play" with the fun stuff, I have to face the yucky stuff ... such as this room (might want to cover your eyes)!  This is one half of our storage room ... before adding back in Christmas decor we used this year.  There is no excuse for this!  Soooo, to keep it real and hold myself accountable, I'm sharing this ugliness ... hope to post a more tolerable "after" picture soon!

If you don't hear from me within a few days, please send help (and a bulldozer)!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Oh, my storage area(s) are so much worse. Most of the Christmas stuff is in a spot under our stairs that on one can see, but the other storage room for seasonal stuff is over run and it will get purged.

  2. I did a SMALL purge of Christmas stuff this year. Whatever I had that I knew I wasn't using anymore I gave to a friend of my daughters for her first house. As I put things away I will do another purge too. Thanks for keeping it real:):)

  3. HI Becca, I loved seeing you foyer and home-even though we are empty nesters and I love the look of a white room, there is no way anything would stay clean here. Between the dog(with iccasional friends dogs) and our 11 grands, I'd Constantine be washing and scrubbing. I don't decorate for winter, other than Pinecones in my dough bowl.
Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year!

  5. Ours is still up - mostly because I came down with the flu on Sunday. I think I'm finally turning the corner! Have to say how much I admire the bloggers with basements and storage rooms for all of the decor. We here is California are lucky to have a shelf in the garage rafters to hold a few totes! I guess it keeps us from spending too much on decor lol. Anyway, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us all!

  7. Hey Becca! I usually take things down on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day so that's what I'll be doing today. It's always so fun to put it all out and it always feels so good to me to put it all away! Besides the fact that it's hard work!
love and blessings for a Happy New Year!

  8. I love the cleanness of my home at the beginning of a new year. It feels like a fresh start. But my issue is after everything is put away and I sit down to relax, there is that one or two things I overlooked when putting Christmas away. How can I stand in a room and scan it for anything left and not see it til I relax? Happy New Year. You asked if we decorate for winter. I usually leave my snowflakes and snowmen out til March?

  9. I can relate!!! Since Fl houses have no storage areas and no basements, we have to pay for an air conditioned storage unit. We have a 12x12 unit, ( which isn't really large enough). It is stuffed to the gills with decorations for every holiday imaginable!! I always tell my self that I should purge some of it, but I can't let go. It seams I have your disease,Becca!! Have any New Year solutions?

  10. Your tree looked beautiful, Becca! I still have our Christmas stuff up, but I'm thinking this weekend I will start to take it down and get it put away. I didn't put up as much as I usually do this year so it should go a little faster.

  11. Hi Becca! Happy New Year. I love the decor in the Foyer so pretty. Tell me where you found your Silver framed mirror and your hutch? Or whatever you call it. I love it. Hopefully, you got the chance to see a little of my decor on my blog.
