the guest loo, that is.  Between 1) the creative bathroom re-dos I've been drooling over here in Bloggerville; 2) Rhoda (at Southern Hospitality) chatting about the return of wallpaper (click here to read her great post); and 3) my current love affair with brown, I thought I'd share our guest bath.  I've always been a little scared of wallpaper ... as one who likes to change things around a bazillion times, its simply too much of a commitment for me. LOL. HowEVER, when I spotted this lovely brown paper, dressed with large, gold decorative circles and apple green accents, I just HAD to have it.  I was ready to walk down the aisle and say "I do" to it.  So, I did.

I don't have a before picture of this little room (just imagine *builder-white* paint ev.er.ree.where.), but here it is, all dressed up.  Yippee.  I love the mix of the brown, gold and green.  (Feel free to click on any pic to enlarge.)

We added the glass shelving unit and went with accessories in creams and golds ... thought they might bounce nicely off of the wallpaper.  And, while I am in NO way "crafty-creative," it was super easy to make the "B" initial by enlarging a font (Monotype Corsiva) up to, I believe, 240 pt, and then framing it.

I chose a gold, metallic shower curtain to "bling" the room up a bit and added the apple green textured fabric above to give the room more height (pulled out the ol' glue gun to adhere the tassle fringe).

Towels courtesy of SteinMart ...

We also added crown molding and painted the ceiling Ralph Lauren Metallics/Golden Candlesticks. (I kid you not ... the ceiling in every room of our house is going to end up being painted this color!!)

Annnnd, just pretend that I've already added molding (painted Golden Candlesticks) around the mirror to dress it up and tie in with the ceiling paint.  Alas, I'm also going to be adding a bronzey-gold faucet ... I'm *this* close to knocking that out myself calling a plumber to do the switcharoo for me.

Well, if you're still with me, I sincerely thank you for stopping by my little guest bath ... can't wait to post pics when I complete the finishing touches (and work on my photography skills).  As always, I'm open to any ideas on how to improve !!  And, I'm also working on redoing our master bath (currently repainting and re-accessorizing) ... imagine that !!  Hello, my name is Becca, and I have a problem !!

  1. Ooooohhhhh! Becca you are amazing with your creativity and eye for design colors!

This is a stunning guest bathroom. Luuuurve the wallpaper color and design. That is just what a guest bathroom needs. Something rich and dramatic. Great choices! I adore the shelf and blingy shower curtain. Very pretty!
You have given me a great idea with the initial too. Love it!

Thanks for your sweet visit to our master bathroom! It is large but I do wish it was upgraded much more. It's just not worth putting the money into it being military. We'll probably be moving in about two years or so.

    Have a wonderful week. ~Melissa :)

  2. Oooh I LOVE it, love the pattern in the wallpaper and the color. And that shower curtain adds the right amount of bling with an air of sophistication. Girl you are amazing. I like the little lamp in the corner of the sink, I have one similar and might 'steal' your idea ;-) I can't really use a night light in there because the silly builder put it right under where the towel hangs!

  4. This is beautiful, Becca! Very elegant! Love the wallpaper, but after removing the last of the wallpaper in my house from our powder room, I think I will enjoy just looking at photos of other people's! You've done a great job!

  8. Hi Becca,
I have definitely found a kindred spirit. I rearrange, tweak, paint, repaint, etc. I just painted my kitchen a few days ago while my husband was out of town. It's the 7th color in 6 years. I'm glad to know there is a name for it. I would love for you to stop by sometime and see about my constant changing.

  9. Hey girl!!!! Looks bee-you-ti-ful!!!!!! I just love the painted ceilings! The wallpaper is scrumptious. I love the look, but destroyed my walls in my first house trying to get the stinking stuff down from my master bath! I am a bit afraid now, but after seeing this...yummy! You really have a knack for accessorizing and I love the framed initial. I did my own initial candle like Amy from Playing Sublimely. Granted, my didn't look that good, but it wasn't horrible!

We are off to Europe tomorrow and will be back in two weeks! I can't wait to see what you have done! Can't wait to see your kitchen (hint...hint)!! Have a great week!

  12. Oh Becca Sweetie...
I LOVE this makeover. Oh my gosh the brown with the pattern is beautiful. How hard was it to match up the pattern as you went around the room? How much extra did it take for matching?

I love it. It is so beautiful, and the color on the ceiling is just devine. I love the way you used the initial, enlarging the font, so creative. Great way to get an initial.

I have signed up to follow your blog sweetie. I can't wait to see what you share next. You are so creative and inspiring to others like me. Thank you for sharing. Please stop by and say hi. I would be so honored if you signed up to follow my blog as well.

  20. Back to take another peek. I love this bathroom. Where do you find sea shells to accessorize with? I would love to do that in my master bath. =)

I hope you’re having a great week. My kiddos are off school for a few days due to teacher workshop days, so I haven't been able to get creative. Every time I stop over here, I get inspired, so maybe it will motivate me to do something fun, decor wise, later today. *smile*
