Well, my hands are cramped and my fingers are still swollen (wait ... that's probably from all of the salt intake in the goodies I inhaled during the Memorial Day parties we enjoyed this weekend ... nevermind), but it's DONE !!
Here are the results of a crazy decorator (a/k/a ME) who was determined to give her dining room a new look by painting every.single.piece of furniture (all dark stained) BM White Dove, followed by sanding, staining and waxing!
Take a peek around ...
Some of you may remember that I purchased this sideboard last Fall and debated whether or not to paint it. Many of you suggested I leave it alone ... alas, I simply couldn't. I left the top alone though (does that count) ?!
Loved distressing its legs:
And, I'm sure you're not surprised that I added an animal print runner on top!
Not only did I paint all of the chairs, but I recovered them as well. And, for the arm chairs flanking the sideboard, I found these pillows at Pier One (on SALE) ... they simply screamed at me to take them home to add whimsical pops of color:
Let's not forget the bench, which was the first piece in this room I attacked with my paintbrush!
I LOVE how the tabletop gleams now that I refinished it (from a cherry stain to dark walnut to match the top of the sideboard):
I knew that I wanted a pop of color on the table. When I spotted this gorgeous vase at HomeGoods, I knew it was "the one" !!
Love the crackle finish and ornate detail on the sides:
A silver tray is perched on top, holding everything needed to "set" the table:
Plate wall remains the same:
There are two more items on my list in order to complete this room ... a cowhide rug layered on top of the sisal rug, along with a vintage chandie, dripping in bling bling! Wish me luck ...
Annnnnnd, a nighttime shot:
As always, thanks for stopping by!

This is so lovely! I have really been enjoying the white and off-white looks to rooms, kitchens and things...maybe it is due to all my wedding planning and the details I'm collecting, but it is so clean and classic! Can't wait for you to get your vintage chandelier too...I would like to have some hanging from trees for my wedding and have been keeping an eye out! Glad you had a fun, salt filled Memorial Day weekend too!

Boy, you've been busy, Becca! It all looks wonderful and I love the wood stain you left on top. It keeps it grounded, I think. I am sure you will find that chandy you want and I think that will be the cherry on top!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteYou did such a great job and I love that the tops are dark stained for contrast. This room looks fantastic.

Thanks!
Wow, Becca, that was a lot of work but so worth it! I like that you left the top of the table and side board stained. Your looks amazing and I can't wait to see the last changes that your gonna make!!

ReplyDeleteYou bad girl, now I want a cowhide rug on top of my sisal rug in my dining room...I think I saw one at World Market the other day, don't they have a sale on rugs right now?
I have a sideboard in my den that I'm thinking of painting but if I do the hubby might divorce me! Guess I'll have to show him how good yours turned out.
Great job my friend!

Becca,
ReplyDeleteYou are truly the master of design. I was literally drooling when I saw your photos, because there are so many elements that I am in love with. First of all, your painting skills are AMAZING! I love the distressed look so much. The colorful pillows (which are completely adorable) really frame the space so nicely. I am in love with your chandelier and the vase and arrangement on the table! I like the natural colors you’ve added as well as the animal print, great touch. Not everyone knows how to pull off a white room, but you have to PERFECTION! I have popped over here 2-3 times already today to take another look.
Fabulous job, Becca!! Thanks for the inspiration. I am a color girl and you are making me want to re-think things. lol! XOXO ~Liz

ReplyDeleteHi Becca, It came out great....I love the plates on the shelves along your buffet. I saw this somewhere else and have been thinking about it for my dining room. I'm tired of looking at the same oil painting for 10 years now. Can't wait to see the vintage chandelier.

Becca, your dining room is fantastic. I love your splashes of color. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving such a nice compliment.
ReplyDeleteit's gorgeous! Love every bit of it. I painted all of my dining room furniture white a couple of months ago and it was a daunting task. I thought I'd never finish the chairs. So I know all the hard work you put into this. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteBecca, Your dining room is beautiful!!!! I love how you have distressed the furniture. WOW!!! You did a fantastic job. The shelving on your wall adds a classy touch. I am considering distressing my porch rockers that we just repainted white. I will have to work on getting my nerve up. You are soooooo talented.
