That's right, folks ... for those of us who have become addicted to AS's chalk paint, we know that a little goes a long way. And, after I painted my accent chest Old White/Chateaux Grey (seen here), I certainly couldn't let the rest of the paint go to waste, now could I?! Sooooo ... I closed my eyes and let my paint brush lead me to my next project.
It was then that I found myself in our kitchen ... staring at the island, which I've loved being Antique White ... hadn't even thought about changing the color, but we all know how that goes. Before I knew it, the first stroke of Chateaux Grey (which really should be called Chateaux *Green*) had applied itself. Then came the clear wax, followed by some distressing:
BEFORE:
AFTER:
Love the white peeking through:
I'm on the hunt for new, fun knobs, as well.
Mr. Roo (from Dollar General) got a splash of Old White on his frame to bounce better off of the Chateaux Grey:
While my husband loves it, he mentioned that it did darken the kitchen up a bit ... to which I responded (in my best Wicked Witch of the West voice), "never fear, my dear, lest you forget that Mama's got *big* plans for some of the kitchen cabinets ?! Mwah ha ha ...."

And, by now, you guys know that I like odd numbers ... this makes two pieces that I've painted Chateaux Grey. You know what that means, right? Please come back soon so that I may show you the third piece!
As always, thanks for stopping by ... I'm off to play at these wonderful linky parties:

ReplyDeleteYou are a brave woman, Becca! I guess it's just a matter of getting that first brush of paint on there though. Love the color {didn't realize it was more green than grey, so thanks for that}. I'm curious to see what the third thing is you've transformed!
ReplyDeleteWhat a change the color makes in your kitchen. Waiting
ReplyDeleteto see # 3. That is a lot of coverage from 1 can of AS.

ReplyDeleteYou are the best!!!!!! I love that you have no fear and look how amazing it all turns out! You tell that hubby to hush up! When you paint all the cabinets white, that piece will be perfect!!! Ha!!! I will definitely let you know next time we are in the area. We were at the Beach Colony. My BIL has a place there and we go on the Fourth. It is fun, but crowded!
ReplyDeleteHi Becca, Your island looks beautiful!! You know I love a green island! lol...I am seriously going to have to try that chalk paint. Looking forward to seeing what you do to your cabinets...Kristen

Becca, you are too funny! I personally love the new color and I love that you painted the frame white! It's pure perfection!!! I must ask.... where do you think they came up with gray in the color name? You are teasing me with all this AS chalk paint sensations, I must get my hands on some. Speaking of hands, yours must be cramping by now! lol.
ReplyDeleteYou are a woman on a constant mission. All you need is cape, mask, paintbrush and the letter "P" on your chest. Now that's a visual!
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks pretty in that color Becca. I can't get over how much you hve transformed your entire home this past year. Amazing job!
ReplyDeleteThe island looks wonderful in that gray/green color.
ReplyDeleteLovely! So soft.

Love the color! Everyone seems to be using that paint lately...How is it different from other paints? Easier to use?..different finish?...I kind of feel silly asking since everyone seems to know about it but me but I thought I would ask. Thanks!

I love it!!! So pretty!!! Are you thinking of doing in your kitchen what I'm thinking you're thinking of doing??? haha. What ever you do I know it'll be pretty! Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of that paint too, I love that color.

ReplyDeleteLove it Becca! And that's the next color on my list to try. I've done Provence, Old White and Paris Grey so far and love em all!

You always make me laugh! The grey definitely does look green but it is really nice. You did a great job on the island. I've been into green lately which is starting to scare me since I have so much blue here. And I think I need to get me one of those island thingies all of you lovely ladies have!
ReplyDeleteMarianne :)
I am loving this new color on the kitchen island. I am a new follower.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! What a great way to change things up a bit.
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit I haven't tried AS paint yet but it's on my to-do list. Love this gray/green color and the transformation to your island! Love it!
ReplyDeleteAnd I thoroughly enjoyed your DJS post! LOL funny! Now I have a name for my syndrome. Especially related to your statement about the glazed over stare!
Looksa great Becca! I always think that color looks more green than gray. I am hoping to pick up some chalk paint this weekend to do a side board in hubby's office.
ReplyDeleteHi Becca, I love the color of the island and I can't wait to see what other changes you are making!
